Biography / Academic Background
In addition to teaching at Luther, I am the founding director of Luther's Centre for Spirituality and Media.
I teach courses in film, media and spirituality, and in gender justice. An ordained deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, I am also a writer, educator and story editor with more than 30 years experience in theatre and film. I work as a development consultant with writers and artists in film, fiction and digital media.
In the last decade, I have pursued theology and biblical studies with a special interest in the Dead Sea Scrolls. I am a graduate of Waterloo Lutheran Seminary and Regis College, Toronto School of Theology. Currently a sessional lecturer in film, visual and new media culture at Humber College, and in film and theology at the University of Toronto and Martin Luther University College. I also create spiritual devotionals for the online ministry Lutherans Connect.

Research Interests / Ongoing Projects
My research interests include film and theology; digital media and visual culture and theology; and film production theory. I'm the founding director of the Centre for Spirituality and Media, a collaboration between Luther and the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. The centre launched in May 2021.
My research interests as a biblical scholar were in the area of the non-biblical texts of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
