Religion, spirituality, and faith are unique to everyone. As part of Luther’s hope to accommodate your needs, we have a variety of faith and spirituality services, spaces, and supports on campus for Luther and Laurier students, staff and faculty.
Meet Anne Anderson! She is our community pastor, located on our main floor. Life as a student can be full and sometimes you just need a conversation and someone to listen. Part of her role within our community is helping students navigate challenging times, while fostering an inclusive environment on campus, and guiding you towards any resources you might need.
“Pop in for a chat! I always have a stock of candy or Kleenex on-hand and can direct you to more supports you might find helpful.” - Anne Anderson
Open for use Monday to Friday | 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. | Unavailable Thursdays (all day)
We have a quiet prayer space at Luther. There are prayer mats, washing stations, and meditation cushions available if needed for your tradition. The space is also used for a variety of classes and supports.
Individual students looking for a space for prayer are welcome to use this room during open hours. If the room is closed, please inquire with our Community Pastor, Anne. Her office is located on the 1st floor in our common area. You can also inquire at our bottom level Administrative Office.
Join a weekly community worship service that includes music, prayer, conversation and communion. Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in Keffer chapel and in fair weather you will find us out in the courtyard. Often there are opportunities for gathering around food and service and learning. We don't gather on long weekends.
Rooted in a Christian Lutheran tradition, at Open Door everyone gathers around Word and Sacrament, and all are welcome to participate. With shared leadership from faculty, students and staff, we engage in prayer and sacred texts, taking contemplative time with art, music, and more. Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in Keffer Chapel.
A community choir of more than 130 voices, gathering from across campus and throughout Waterloo Region, singing songs of praise and prayer, of joy and lament, from around the world. It’s a fun and welcoming space where multifaith and multicultural diversity is explored through music.
Lutherans Connect is an online portal for devotional projects with an ecumenical reach. Begun in association with Lutheran Campus Ministry Toronto in 2008, Lutherans Connect has evolved into its own dedicated ministry which publishes devotionals in relationship to the seasons of the church and the times in between. Curated by Deacon Sherry Coman, director of the Centre for Spirituality and Media.
Laurier has a variety of multifaith resources across campus, including a Multi-Faith Resource Team of university chaplains available to assist students, staff and faculty in their efforts to research or discuss ethical and theological issues.
