Worship and Music

Martin Luther University College provides many opportunities for students, staff, faculty and the public to worship together or in solitude. As a faith-based school, we believe it’s essential for us to pause during our busy days to orient ourselves toward the Source of Life and our deep connectedness to all of life. Of course, everyone is welcome.

Versatility

Regularly scheduled opportunities for worship, contemplation and conversation:

  • Tuesdays at 5 p.m. — Inshallah
  • Wednesdays at 5 p.m. — Open Door communion services and solidarity gatherings
  • Sundays at 10:30 a.m. — thirdspace_ alternative worshipping community

Our worship events usually take place in Keffer Memorial Chapel. The space is more than a chapel. It's also a site for personal reflection and meditation; classroom learning; public lectures; art exhibits; a student de-stressing program called Chilling With Dogs; expressive arts workshops, and has even served as a yoga studio. Needless to say, but we'll say it anyway, it's a flexible space.

Worship activities during the week are co-ordinated by Debbie Lou Ludolph, the school's dean of chapel and director of the Kanata Centre for Worship and Global Song, while Sunday worship is led by Pastor Anne Anderson of thirdspace_.

Lutherans Connect

Lutherans Connect is an online portal for devotional projects with an ecumenical reach. Begun in association with Lutheran Campus Ministry Toronto in 2008, Lutherans Connect has evolved into its own dedicated ministry which publishes devotionals in relationship to the seasons of the church and the times in between. Curated by Deacon Sherry Coman, director of the Centre for Spirituality and Media.

Contemplative Music Pause

Welcome to Contemplative Music Pause, a brief time to be still and reflect. Hosted by Gerard Yun. Sponsored by the Kanata Centre for Worship and Global Song at Martin Luther University College.

Multifaith Prayer Room

Our school is home to a multifaith prayer room serving Luther and Laurier students. The room also doubles as a classroom and our Free Weekly Distro distribution centre, so please check with the main office at martin@luther.wlu.ca for availability. Distro is a service Luther offers, in partnership with the Laurier Students' Public Interest Research Group (LSPIRG), to provide students with free food, hygiene and classroom supplies.
