Sharing the meal, the story and the journey.

We’re a vibrant alternative worshipping community drawn from across campus and the broader community. While remaining Lutheran, we explore new ways of “doing church.” In other words, in addition to a group that worships together, we’re an incubator for worship innovation!

thirdspace_ began in 2014 as a pilot project of the missions committee of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada’s Eastern Synod. Rev. Anne Anderson, the school’s community pastor, leads the thirdspace_ community in worship, service and learning.

Online and in-person worship

Everyone is welcome to join us on Sundays beginning at 10:30 a.m.

We continue gathering for communion services through the Zoom video platform, but have discontinued the Sunday worship livestream via Facebook.

Our efforts to resume in-person worship services are subject to pandemic safety protocols and, as such, our plans may change quickly. You will find the most up-to-date information about services in the calendar at the bottom of this web page.

To participate in services, please contact Anne for details.

Service

We serve our wider community through projects that include a household lending library for students; weekly distribution of free food, hygiene products and houshold goods for students; support for international relief work; and a meal-making session for students once each term. To help people on campus get to know each other, we hold games nights, stuff swaps, potluck meals and more.

Learning

We learn together through book studies, yoga classes, movies and gatherings where we dissect contemporary issues.
